<p>In celebration of Earth Day, Marion County is sponsoring in partnership with the North Santiam Watershed Council an ivy pull at Niagara County Park to continue ivy control efforts started in Fall 2011.</p>
<p>Participants should wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring gloves and clippers if they have them.  Other tools will be provided.  Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.</p>
<p><em><strong>Directions from Salem:</strong></em><br />
Niagara County Park is located approximately 40 miles from Salem on Santiam Highway, seven miles east of Mill City.</p>

Help the earth even more and join the carpool leaving from the parking lot at WinCo on Lancaster Boulevard S. The carpool will leave the lot at 8:00 a.m.<br />

<p><strong><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Summary</span></em></strong></p>
<p>The North Santiam Watershed Council (NSWC) is soliciting qualifications for a <strong><em>Watershed Community Outreach Services Contract.</em></strong></p>
<p><strong><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Background</span></em></strong></p>
<p>The NSWC is a locally-driven, non-governmental, non-regulatory community based organization that facilitates stewardship and restoration projects based on scientific analysis to improve water health; and develop partnerships to plan, fund and implement those projects.  As a Watershed Council defined by Oregon Revised Statute 541.350, the NSWC implements work that meets the Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds.  The NSWC is local volunteers that share an interest in improving the health of the watershed in partnership with willing landowners and provides a place to work together in a non-regulatory setting to achieve the healthy water and land we all rely on.</p>

<p><strong><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Minimum Qualifications</span></em></strong></p>
<p>■         Degree in education, natural or social science or other relevant subject area preferred</p>
<p>■         As a contractor must have access to own computer, relevant software and digital camera to complete work described</p>
<p>■         Ability to work independently with limited oversight and guidance</p>
<p>■         Experience developing and delivering education and outreach programs</p>
<p>■         Experience working with volunteers, including active recruitment and training</p>
<p>■         Experience with and interest in working with diverse stakeholders and agencies</p>
<p>■         Experience or familiarity with issues related to watershed management</p>
<p>■         Computer proficiency including experience with Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint; website development and maintenance; and social marketing</p>
<p>■         Valid Oregon driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, and ability to attend evening and weekend activities</p>
<p>■         Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and hiking on uneven terrain<strong></strong></p>
<p>■         Familiarity with fundraising including grant writing and management</p>
<p>■         Well-organized with excellent communications skills, including oral and writing</p>
<p><strong><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Compensation</span></em></strong></p>
<p>Contract duration will be from April 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.  Time commitment for the contract is expected to be approximately 20 hours per week.  Compensation will be commensurate with experience and education.  There is opportunity to expand this contract through grant writing.</p>
<p>This is an independent contractor position; therefore, contractor shall be responsible for all applicable federal or state taxes and shall not be eligible for social security contributions, worker’s compensation, unemployment insurance, Public Employees Retirement System or any additional benefits as a result of this contract.</p>
