Wet Your Whistle in the Watershed Event: Friday, June 11th –6 to 9 pm

The North Santiam Watershed Council will join the Calapooia and South Santiam Watershed Councils at a joint regional fundraising event hosted by the Calapooia Brewing Company in downtown Albany (140 Hill Street NE). Please mark your calendars for this fun event with residents from your neighbor watersheds! Join us from 6-9 pm on the evening of Friday, June 11th. Live music, a limited silent auction, family-friendly outdoor area, regional brews and Calapooia Brewery’s famous root beer are just some of the fun!

Council Meeting June 10th

Please join the North Santiam Watershed Council this Thursday, June 10th, as we begin phase 1 of our Council Self-Evaluation. This process, part of the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board review, helps the Council evaluate progress on recent projects and determine the direction and type of future Council projects. We will also have a brief Council member update on our fiscal policy determination process. 7pm, Stayton Community Room (400 Virginia Avenue).

Council Meeting May 13th

The May North Santiam Watershed Council meeting will be held on Thursday, May 13th at 7 PM. Glenn Dolphin from the Oregon Marine Board to talk about the Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Program. Meet at the Stayton Community Room (400 Virginia Ave.).

Learn about endangered fish, dams, and reservoirs in the North Santiam Watershed

You’re invited to Open Houses hosted by the Army Corps of Engineers on May 12 (Stayton Community Center) and May 17 (Mill City Middle School).

Meet the agencies and take part in presentations and discussion sessions. Topics include operating the Willamette Valley dams (including Detroit and Big Cliff), balancing competing water uses, and the recent biological opinions.

Questions are welcome in advance so staff can work to respond to them in the presentations. E-mail questions to Willamette(at)usace.army.mil by Wednesday, May 5. Questions are also welcome at the door.

North Fork Weed and Clean, May 8th

This year’s annual North Fork Weed and Clean Event is taking place on Saturday, May 8th from 9 AM to Noon.  This year we will be picking up trash along North Fork Road and pulling invasive weeds like English Ivy and Scotch Broom. We will be meeting in the Oregon Department of Forestry parking lot at the corner of Highway 22 and North Fork Road. Stick around and have lunch with us afterwards provided by the Council and the Marion County Search and Rescue Chuck Wagon.  YUM!
