Oregon Small Farm News

Oregon Small Farm News is a free online newsletter that concentrates on both commercial small farm entrepreneurs as well as non-commercial small acreage landowners. Our focus embraces organic/biological and conventional farming systems and emphasizes three areas:
Small Acreage Stewardship
Addressing enterprises, land management and soil and water quality for non-commercial small acreages.
Commercial Small Farms
Entrepreneurial Agriculture Addressing high value horticulture, livestock and poultry, and alternative crop production emphasizing organic and pasture-based systems and specialty and niche production.
Community Food Systems
Address alternative and specialty marketing through creation and enhancement of local and regional food systems and farm direct marketing channels.

Regional Meeting

In March, the NSWC will be hosting the Calapooia and South Santiam Watershed Councils for the quarterly regional meeting. The potluck dinner will begin at 6:30 PM and will include a discussion on upcoming projects, including those in Stout Creek, Snake-Deford, and Bear Branch sub-basins. If you are interested in learning more about these projects or would like to learn how to start a project, contact the Council at council@nsantiamwatershed.org or 503-930-8202. Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District 2010 Native
Plant Sale

March 12, 2010,
10:00am to 6:00pm and March 13, 2010,
9:00am to 1:00pm
The Marion SWCD will be holding their 8th Annual Native Plant and Tree Sale located at: Marion Garden, 3180 Center St NE, Salem, OR (Behind the Marion County Health and Service Building). At the sale, we feature deciduous and evergreen plants, shrubs and trees. Most of the plant stock will be sold as bare root seedlings, and our prices and variety are hard to beat. A few will be sold as potted plants. There is no minimum purchase required and plants will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Our staff and volunteers will assist you with questions about the plants and provide labels for the plants that are sold.
